Jessica and I are firm believers in finding a skin care routine that works for you and sticking with it. My number one secret for maintaining great skin is consistency with my skin care routine. We are constantly bombarded with the newest miracle product that will give you and everyone else gorgeous skin instantly. Don’t get me wrong, we love to try new products and are always always searching for the next holy grail – reading Sephora reviews for hours is a guilty pleasure of mine! But when I introduce a new product into my skin care routine, I’m SO SO careful. I always google the heck out of any new product I want to try to find as many reviews by honest bloggers I can. K-Beauty (or Korean Beauty) has been an open secret in the west for a while. K-Beauty companies are always on the cutting edge of the latest skin care science and technology. Sometimes the result can be a bit whacky for my Canadian tastes (snail goop!?), but hey, whatever works right?! Here are some of my favourite K-Beauty products currently on rotation in my skin care regime.
Can anybody say, cheap street eats? Cheap, loud, and hella fun. If you’re looking for somewhere to knock back drinks on the dime and on an awesome patio? You’ve found the spot. This is my kind of dive bar. Brought to you by the same gents behind El Furniture Warehouse and Queen Street Warehouse, I knew that the Dime on Queen would satisfy all my thrifty millennial needs.
Toronto is food festival wonderland during the summer. From brunch to tacos to wine, Toronto can’t get enough of small bites out in the sunshine. We’ve already shared our top list of the best bang for your buck summer food festivals this year. Taste of Toronto (not to be confused with Taste Toronto) was at the top of our list because its complement of heavy hitter restaurants meant that great food was practically guaranteed. Luckily, the weather held out for most of the day too. Taste of Toronto is truly a Foodie Paradise, practically bursting at the seams with Toronto’s greatest and newest restaurants – all in one place!
What a time for live music in our city! Toronto is a world class destination that attracts some of the biggest and best musical acts in the world. Some of my best summer memories happen at the Molson Amp, now known as the Budweiser Stage, beer in hand, friends by my side, ass on the grass. Life just does not get more enchanting than listening to live music on a summer’s night in Toronto. Catching a concert here is basically a rite of passage if you live anywhere near Toronto… but because it’s only open from June to September, it makes watching a concert here extra special.
Dinner parties are odd ducks. Just say the word “dinner party” and I imagine a 1950s housewife serving perfect meatloaf to guests in a formal dining room. Boring, stuffy, and so old-fashioned right? Lame as it may sound, once you hit the age when you’d rather have appys and a cocktail rather than a red solo cup full of tequila and some pizza, playing hostess and entertaining friends for a night-in can actually be fun! Having a grown-up dinner party, without feeling too grown-up, is all about focusing on a few key details and keeping things simple. Here’s how I throw a fun, delicious, memorable gathering without any of the stuffiness…or the fear.
Here’s what I believe: Cream cheese frosting is non-negotiable, nuts add great texture and flavour, and raisins don’t belong anywhere within a 2-mile radius of my carrot cake. The cold hard truth? I make the best carrot cake in the entire world. Universe. Galaxy. Get on the Jessica train, because I am about to blow your mind.
Sports! Toronto loves its sports teams, and thats right, the boys of summer are back and already well into their 2017 season. We don’t just bleed blue and white in the winter. There is nothing like experiencing a sports game in person. Despite the rough start (looking at you Jays), rollercoaster rides (Leafs… you’re guilty!) and let downs (Raps, I can’t take your playoff runs no ‘mo) there is nothing like experiencing a sports game in person. There’s a few things that you should know before taking in a game at the SkyDome- er, Rogers Center this summer… but the bottom line? You must!
