Tis the season—for gingerbread-flavored lattes (yes!), phone calls from relatives you kinda forgot you had and, one of the most infamous holiday traditions, ye old office party!

Abnormal: deviating from what is normal or usual. I think describing Deciem as Abnormal is a big understatement. I can’t wait to share this blog post with you! Quite literally shaking with excitement.
It’s that time of year again – the One of a Kind Show has taken over the Enercare Center in downtown Toronto. The One of a Kind Show (or OOAK Show) is an amazing opportunity to snag artisanal crafts that are thoughtfully made with love. There are so many fabulous handmade finds that you could quite easily finish your Christmas shopping in one place.
I am always on the lookout for a new green space in Toronto to explore. When you live in a concrete jungle, any new park is a great asset in the city to cherish. Our main Toronto parks (think Trinity Bellswoods, Highpark) are overloaded in the summer, so its great to see Toronto investing in its Waterfront to encourage more city dwellers and tourists to explore further south. A bit late to the game, and hindsight is 20/20, but our waterfront is going to be the next “it” neighbourhood. Move over Ossy!
There is always that one person in your (not so immediate) friend group that always takes Christmas gifts to the next level by being super creative. Although I am down for some originality in gifts I give and get, a slow panic sets in when I feel Christmas creeping. I think, that betch is going to give me something super thoughtful and amazing and I am THE WORST FRIEND EVER because I’ve left this to the absolute last minute.
If you’re one of those people who think, “Man, I really wish I didn’t have to deal with this” when Halloween comes around, this probably isn’t the blog post for you. No hard feelings if you click the x. It’s a totally understandable stance, it’s just we are probably not ever going to be friends.
Canada is not called Glorious and Free by coincidence, and this term isn’t just reserved for our Western neighbours. Canada (all of Canada) is a spectacularly gorgeous country. Lauren and I have been travelling so much lately we needed a reminder of how blessed we are to have such bountiful nature in our backyard. Especially the end of summer can sometimes get us into a funk. The days are shorter, colder, with less light, and not that I am one of those “Mercury is in retrograde” type of gals, but I do feel the effect of less sunshine on my mental state.
Every fall, when the leaves change colour, and the weather turns cool and crisp, my girlfriends and I plan a weekend away from the city. Sounds romantic right? But really, the biddies love wine, and in our books, nothing beats a wine-tasting weekend. We look forward to this weekend for months, and the older we get, the more we appreciate our time gossiping over a glass of pinot.
This past weekend, I got to spend some quality time with my fur baby, Abby! Abby lives with my mom, about an hour and a half away, so it’s hard for me to see her since I moved to the city 4 years ago. Abby is quite literally, the sweetest golden girl you have ever met.
