The Fairmont Hotels takes high tea very seriously. Having already experienced the full Fairmont high tea experience at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier (check it out here!), when the lovely ladies at the Fairmont Royal York asked us to their Holiday High Tea, we were there with jingle bells on our feet! We spent the day braving the Christmas crowds trying to get some shopping done and then headed over to the Royal York to rest our tired feet and enjoy a well deserved spot of festive tea.

There’s a new restaurant in the core and with over 100 beers on tap, it’s MASSIVE. Craft Beer Market is another wave of the west coast invasion of Toronto. It’s located at Yonge and Adelaide – smack in the middle of the downtown core. Before opening its doors to the rest of the city, Craft Beer Market invited Jess and I (and our friend, A!) to their raucous opening party to sample what’s on tap. Bring on the brewskies!
I have a low key obsession with interior design. I greedily devour any design magazine that I can get my hands on and half my insta feed these days is all about tablescapes, shelfies, and hygge. Although most of my obsession is purely virtual (living in a condo doesn’t exactly lend itself to DIYs and renos), I love a good wander around interior design stores. And nothing beats Restoration Hardware when it comes to dream decorating my perfect house, nothing. You can bet that as soon as a little bird told me about the new MASSIVE Restoration Hardware that opened up in Yorkdale complete with a CAFE, I rounded up the squad!
Jess and I haven’t treated ourselves to brunch out in a long time. Rather than being a homebody for yet another weekend, after running a few errands (wedding related yay!) we decided to debrief and catch up over brunch and we knew exactly where to go – Gusto 101.
The perfect picnic does not exist, but a girl can certainly try! Summer is in full swing (albeit it’s been more of a sluggish meander)! We are finally getting some warmer weather to enjoy the sun. One of the easiest ways to enjoy the outdoors – without heading outside of the city – is planning a picnic in your favourite green space. Picnics are an informal way to spend time with your friends or loved ones, to just relax and read a good book by yourself, or chill with your dog. ‘Cause lets be real, dogs are better than humans. Almost always.
Once in a while, on a sunny weekend morning, instead of my typical lie-in, I wake up as the sun rises with a spring in my step and I simply can’t laze about! On these (admittedly) rare mornings, I grab a cup of coffee, some cash and my bag and run out to the farmers market. The other day, with the hubby-to-be still fast asleep, I snuck out of the house armed with my camera to the farmers market at the Evergreen Brickworks.
Beast Mode happens when times get desperate, something clicks in your mind and you simply are able to perform a feat that is worthy of a legend. For those of you wondering, yes, you can absolutely head into Beast mode when faced with a caloric bomb of a meal. A few words of caution before you attempt brunch here – remember to go to the gym, fast, and wear stretchy pants.
There’s only one place to go in the city if you’re looking to meet up with your old crew for a good brunch. You know, the friends you saw almost every single day and basically lived your teenage years with. Where else could you go but School Bakery and Cafe in Liberty Village! Seriously, School is the perfect place to kick back with your besties from high school and laugh over inside jokes and funny stories. Have no fear, even though School looks like a hipster version of an old schoolroom, the food is nothing like your old cafeteria.
