Holiday High Tea at the Royal York

The Fairmont Hotels takes high tea very seriously. Having already experienced the full Fairmont high tea experience at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier (check it out here!), when the lovely ladies at the Fairmont Royal York asked us to their Holiday High Tea, we were there with jingle bells on our feet! We spent the day braving the Christmas crowds trying to get some shopping done and then headed over to the Royal York to rest our tired feet and enjoy a well deserved spot of festive tea.

Craft Beer Market

There’s a new restaurant in the core and with over 100 beers on tap, it’s MASSIVE. Craft Beer Market is another wave of the west coast invasion of Toronto. It’s located at Yonge and Adelaide – smack in the middle of the downtown core. Before opening its doors to the rest of the city, Craft Beer Market invited Jess and I (and our friend, A!) to their raucous opening party to sample what’s on tap. Bring on the brewskies!

Restoration Hardware Cafe Brunch

I have a low key obsession with interior design. I greedily devour any design magazine that I can get my hands on and half my insta feed these days is all about tablescapes, shelfies, and hygge. Although most of my obsession is purely virtual (living in a condo doesn’t exactly lend itself to DIYs and renos), I love a good wander around interior design stores. And nothing beats Restoration Hardware when it comes to dream decorating my perfect house, nothing. You can bet that as soon as a little bird told me about the new MASSIVE Restoration Hardware that opened up in Yorkdale complete with a CAFE, I rounded up the squad!

Stranger Things Cake

I’m freaking out about a few things these days…one of them being the new season of Stranger Things (OMG!) and the is finding the perfect Halloween costume (stay tuned for a Trade and Charm Halloween costume retrospective)! Who doesn’t love Stranger Things? The kids are so adorable and the show is the perfect way to get things spooky-ba-ba-dooky this Halloween. My Stranger Things sheet cake is literally the easiest thing to pull together (I did it while getting my costume ready!) but it’s so impressive that people were taking pics of it all night!

Easy As Pumpkin Pie

Thanksgiving snuck up on me this year. With temperatures that belong in the dead of July who could think about turkey, stuffing, and gravy? But the heat wave has finally broken and now I can finally embrace Thanksgiving in all it’s glory. Nothing says Thanksgiving to me than my mom’s stuffing and pumpkin pie! Unfortunately, the stuffing recipe is a fiercely guarded family secret (sorry!) but my pumpkin pie recipe is sooo easy I can’t resist sharing it with you!

Glamping with Elements Luxury Tented Camp

Canadian girls don’t shy away from loading up the car with a tent and heading to a provincial park for a weekend of camping. Sleeping under the stars, all snuggled up in a tent is very refreshing, but there is a ton of work involved, especially if you’re the ‘organizer’ in your friend group. We used to go camping once or twice every summer but for the past few years trips abroad have taken precedence over camping – honestly, an all inclusive down south is less work and stress than camping. Lately I’ve become enamoured by the idea of ‘glamping’ (glamourous camping…or camping for brats) – sleeping under the stars in a beautiful canvas tent, with all the comfort of home! You can glamp all over the world (surf + yoga retreat in Portugal anyone?) but really I just like the idea of staying in Ontario – we do have the best camping in the world!

Perfect Fall Snack: Carrot Cream Cheese Squares

I like to think of Labour Day weekend as the true last hurrah of summer before we fall into the best season EVER – FALL! With the kiddo’s heading back to fall, vacations wrapping up, and everyone basically getting back into the swing of things, you may be looking for a new recipe or two to shake up your meal prep. Well, have I got a recipe for you! This is the perfect treat to bake up on Sunday and then keep in the fridge for your hectic mornings, boxing up for lunch al-desko, an after school (or work) snack, or late night treat. My Mom is doing the Sugar Free September challenge so these carrot cream cheese squares have ZERO white sugar. In fact, the sweetness comes from lots and lots of carrots plus a dash of maple syrup and I even snuck in some granola for extra goodness.

Toronto has a handful of secret restaurants and bars, hidden places that require passwords, memberships or secret keys to get into. You might hear about these little gems from friends of friends or, if you’re lucky enough, you’ve visited these secret little spots. Oh you fancy. Let me tell you about Toronto’s other ‘secret’ bars. Discover Diner En Blanc

On Thursday night people from all corners of the city flocked to secret meeting points. Some were holding tables and chairs, others had flowers in their hair and long party dresses on – but all were dressed from head to toe in white. Did you see them on your way home and wonder where all those fanciful folks were off to? Well, I’ll let you in on the secret: The very secretive, and very exclusive Diner En Blanc. Jessica and I raced from work, throwing on white outfits to join in on the fun.
