I’m freaking out about a few things these days…one of them being the new season of Stranger Things (OMG!) and the is finding the perfect Halloween costume (stay tuned for a Trade and Charm Halloween costume retrospective)! Who doesn’t love Stranger Things? The kids are so adorable and the show is the perfect way to get things spooky-ba-ba-dooky this Halloween. My Stranger Things sheet cake is literally the easiest thing to pull together (I did it while getting my costume ready!) but it’s so impressive that people were taking pics of it all night!
Have you heard? TIFF is in town which means that Toronto turns into a bit of a circus for a week or so. King St. shuts down, actors and actresses flock to the City’s hotspots, and tourists follow in their wake clogging up the streets and walking super slow. On the bright side, TIFF parties are legendary, I mean, who doesn’t want to get glammed up and rub shoulders with the stars? Sign us up!
Toronto has a handful of secret restaurants and bars, hidden places that require passwords, memberships or secret keys to get into. You might hear about these little gems from friends of friends or, if you’re lucky enough, you’ve visited these secret little spots. Oh you fancy. Let me tell you about Toronto’s other ‘secret’ bars. Those that aren’t plastered with advertising, relying only on reputation and word of mouth to attract a small but loyal clientele. Instead of memberships, you only need a sharp eye and an adventurous spirit to discover these (not so) secret bars.
Summer baby? Stop complaining about your birthday. If you’re one of the lucky few that are able to celebrate your birthday in the summer in Toronto, I envy you. You really do not have any justification to complain. Zip. Nada. As a January baby, my choices for birthday venues are extremely limited and usually require hand and boot warmers.
I’m always thrilled when I get a housewarming invitation. Finding a dream place that’s just right is a slog to be honest. It means late night showings bouncing around the City and not only having to find the perfect neighbourhood but also the perfect piece of real estate. BUT once the papers are signed, the moving truck has left and the boxes are starting to get unpacked, you finally have a chance to just fall in love with your home. Whether it’s the floor to ceiling windows, the vintage wood floors, the beautiful trim, or the breathtaking views, it’s time to be house proud and celebrate with friends!
