The Fairmont Hotels takes high tea very seriously. Having already experienced the full Fairmont high tea experience at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier (check it out here!), when the lovely ladies at the Fairmont Royal York asked us to their Holiday High Tea, we were there with jingle bells on our feet! We spent the day braving the Christmas crowds trying to get some shopping done and then headed over to the Royal York to rest our tired feet and enjoy a well deserved spot of festive tea.

I have a low key obsession with interior design. I greedily devour any design magazine that I can get my hands on and half my insta feed these days is all about tablescapes, shelfies, and hygge. Although most of my obsession is purely virtual (living in a condo doesn’t exactly lend itself to DIYs and renos), I love a good wander around interior design stores. And nothing beats Restoration Hardware when it comes to dream decorating my perfect house, nothing. You can bet that as soon as a little bird told me about the new MASSIVE Restoration Hardware that opened up in Yorkdale complete with a CAFE, I rounded up the squad!
Jessica and I stumbled onto something ah-mazing and we can’t wait to share it with you. How does fields of gorgeous, blooming, colourful blossoms as far as the eye can see sound? In a few weeks time this place will be blowing up your social media and the hordes will descend, so you must grab your bestie and GO GO GO asap! Lavender-schmlavendar – all aboard the dahlia train!
Canadian girls don’t shy away from loading up the car with a tent and heading to a provincial park for a weekend of camping. Sleeping under the stars, all snuggled up in a tent is very refreshing, but there is a ton of work involved, especially if you’re the ‘organizer’ in your friend group. We used to go camping once or twice every summer but for the past few years trips abroad have taken precedence over camping – honestly, an all inclusive down south is less work and stress than camping. Lately I’ve become enamoured by the idea of ‘glamping’ (glamourous camping…or camping for brats) – sleeping under the stars in a beautiful canvas tent, with all the comfort of home! You can glamp all over the world (surf + yoga retreat in Portugal anyone?) but really I just like the idea of staying in Ontario – we do have the best camping in the world!
Toronto has a handful of secret restaurants and bars, hidden places that require passwords, memberships or secret keys to get into. You might hear about these little gems from friends of friends or, if you’re lucky enough, you’ve visited these secret little spots. Oh you fancy. Let me tell you about Toronto’s other ‘secret’ bars. Those that aren’t plastered with advertising, relying only on reputation and word of mouth to attract a small but loyal clientele. Instead of memberships, you only need a sharp eye and an adventurous spirit to discover these (not so) secret bars.
Jess and I haven’t been to Ottawa in years. The last time I went, I was probably still in my teens and likely unimpressed with our Nation’s Capital. As luck would have it, both Jess and I had the opportunity to visit Ottawa separately for work and we decided to make a road trip out of it! Ottawa is a good long drive from Toronto (about five hours) and the drive takes you through some seriously cute towns. Looking to stretch our legs and do a bit of exploring, we pulled off the highway at Gananoque – a seriously instagrammable little town.
Something that I learned recently: It’s not always about the glitz and glam. Especially when it comes to finding the right salon for maintainenance beauty routines. One of the hardest things about moving downtown was re-establishing my go-to salon favourites for hair, brows and nails that were affordable. Not only was I bombarded by a plethora of choices, but as soon as I looked within the four-one-six, prices sky rocketed.

For those of you wondering, yes, you can absolutely head into Beast mode when faced with a caloric bomb of a meal. A few words of caution before you attempt brunch here – remember to go to the gym, fast, and wear stretchy pants.
Toronto is food festival wonderland during the summer. From brunch to tacos to wine, Toronto can’t get enough of small bites out in the sunshine. We’ve already shared our top list of the best bang for your buck summer food festivals this year. Taste of Toronto (not to be confused with Taste Toronto) was at the top of our list because its complement of heavy hitter restaurants meant that great food was practically guaranteed. Luckily, the weather held out for most of the day too. Taste of Toronto is truly a Foodie Paradise, practically bursting at the seams with Toronto’s greatest and newest restaurants – all in one place!
